Lifetime Sports Memorabilia Collection

Selling at Auction to Benefit Organ Transplant Awareness

Columbus, Ohio - Growing up, Amy Wolff Brill thought nothing of rubbing elbows with professional athletes - whether it was after a game, at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, or anywhere her dad, Marc brought her while on a trek to add to his autograph and memorabilia collection. After learning that his mom had thrown out a collection of baseball cards accumulated during his childhood, Marc Wolff set out to rebuild that stash and then some. Traveling with his daughter, attending professional sporting events (baseball was his first passion), and writing to celebrities and notable athletes became a welcome opportunity to relax from a high-pressure legal career. Wherever they went, Marc was fanatical about getting a photo of Amy with the athlete each time they got a signature - probably relying on an attorney’s brain for detail and ensuring there would be no question of authenticity. When he was diagnosed with primary biliary sclerosis cholangitis, their hobby took on even more meaning as they created priceless memories together. Marc would write letters to celebrities and athletes daily, a practice Amy picked up on her father’s behalf as his disease progressed. Walking to the mailbox at the end of each day became a point of excitement for Marc, who could not wait to see who had replied.

After a liver transplant, Marc found another way to engage with his love of sports - as an athlete himself. Joining Team Ohio Transplant Athletics, Marc participated (and when he could no longer participate, he enthusiastically supported other athletes) at the Transplant Games of America. Sadly, Marc died as a result of his chronic illness in 2002. Late last year, Amy made the difficult decision to part with nearly all of the collection she and her father built together, hoping to put it into the hands of other avid collectors who would enjoy the items and to help raise money and awareness for organ donation.

The Lifetime Sports Memorabilia Collection of Marc Wolff and Amy Wolff Brill is selling at Amelia Jeffers, Auctioneers & Appraisers in Columbus, Ohio on October 26, 2024 as a part of The Gentleman’s Auction. Each item from the collection is denoted as such, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Team Ohio Transplant Athletics. Interested bidders and collectors may view the collection at ameliajeffers.com/wolffsportscollection.
